What We Do

We take a "three pronged" approach to recruiting health care professionals to East Tennessee.

First, we exhibit at a variety of regional and national nursing and allied health conferences to tell the attendees about East Tennessee and our employment opportunities.

Second, we make contact with nursing and allied health students to encourage them to come to East Tennessee after graduation or to encourage them to remain in this area after graduation.

Our third approach is through youth recruitment. The national shortage of individuals in health-related careers continues to grow at a record pace. If we are to meet the projected need for additional healthcare professionals, middle- and high-school students must begin to learn about the many different healthcare career paths available today. In 2008, ETAHR educated more than 3,000 students in grades K-12 about East Tennessee healthcare careers and nursing opportunities.
